Extended Validated SSL certificate
EV SSL - secure HTTPS connection and high customer confidence
Extended Validation (EV) certificate carries the highest validation that shows the company name in the certificate details. In order to see your company's identity information, visitors need to view the certificate details. The CA strictly validates the business by checking all business registration documents, third party business directory for address verification and call verification. In addition to the existence of the company, the applicant (contact) for the certificate is also verbally verified.
The domain is verified by sending an e-mail message to the selected e-mail. According to the rules there are fixed addresses to choose from admin@, administrator@, webmaster@, hostmaster@ or postmaster@. Instead of e-mail confirmation, alternative validation offers inserting a TXT record into a DNS domain zone or a text file into the data space on the server (FTP). We support both alternative verification methods and are set in the order detail.
Note i: It is not possible to send a validation email to a personal address e.g. yourname@gmail.com.
How long it takes to get the PositiveSSL EV certificate
EV SSL - The Certificate Authority must validate the operational and physical identity
Confirmation of the website's identity is carried out according to the rigorous CAB Forum guidelines and involves a strict vetting process by a public Certificate Authority.
If the certification authority has sufficient documentation, the domain is confirmed and telephone verification is carried out, it takes 2 to 5+ days to issue the certificate.
Domains Secured
PositiveSSL EV certificate secures one domain
For Single Domain Name (FQDN) the certificate secures both variant: domain.com and www.domain.com. For 3rd level domains and higher, the www variant is not always added automatically.
Renewing your certificate
You need to renew PositiveSSL EV certificate before it expires
You can start renewing an expiring SSL certificate 30 days before it expires. It is recommended not to leave the renewal to the last minute, unused validity of the certificate will be added to the renewed one.
You can renew your PositiveSSL EV certificate with us without any problem even if you originally ordered it from another supplier. We always have better prices than the certification authority!
REISSUE certificate
Unlimited free reissues for orders at our store
During the validity of the certificate, you can re-generate the certificate at any time free of charge. This is called REISSUE and is useful in case you do not have a private key for migration to another server or the keys have been deleted and there is no backup. Reissue is possible with a new request that contains the same data as the initial order.
Note i: Best practices are to generate a new certificate signing request (CSR) when reissuing your SSL/TLS certificate. Generating a new CSR creates a new, unique key pair (public/private) for the reissued certificate.
Note ii: It is not possible to reissue SSL while it is processing or another reissue request pending.
Multi-Year Certificates
In order to provide you the lowest cost per year, we offer 2-5 year certificate packages
As of 1 September 2020, Apple, Google and Mozilla browsers and devices do not accept new SSL/TLS certificates that have a lifetime of more than 398 days. To comply with the latest security requirements, multi-year SSL certificates are issued for 1 year (max. 398 days). You'll need to re-issue the certificate once per year. We'll send you email notifications starting 30 days before expiration. Of course, REISSUE is free of charge. Plus you can reissue your certificate at any time and as many times as you like!
After the certificate is issued, you cannot shorten the validity period, request a refund of the unused period or change the domain name! If you decide to get an SSL certificate for 3 years or more, we recommend that you first consider whether you will need it for the entire period.
Note i: Re-issue requires revalidation.
Note ii: You can insert new CSR or use last one during reissue.
